Call for Lecture-Recital Session
2008 NCCO Conference,
University of Cincinnati
College-Conservatory of Music
October 30 - November 1st, 2008
NCCO members are encouraged to apply to present a lecture-recital session with one's own choir or the assembled audience at the session that explores a specific topic of interest. This lecture-recital may include a colleague from the choral field, from one's own department, from another discipline outside of music, or a composer of some of the music who would be assisting in the overall presentation of the topic. Sessions will be 60 minutes in length and can include live choral performance (either by bringing one's own choir or using the assembled audience). The focus is on combining the elements of performance with that of scholarly research and presenting it to the membership. The session should be more than a cursory reading of literature, and should include some combination of historical perspective, analysis, recordings, personal commentary, etc.
NCCO sessions strive to include choral works appropriate for college (two- and four-year) and university choirs of varying sizes, voicing, and levels of ability.
How to apply:
- Send an abstract of the proposed session.
- Explain how you would incorporate a choir, the assembled audience, and/or a colleague.
- Submit a compact disc recording of your choir if you are proposing to use them in the lecture-recital. This should consist of four selections, including two selections from the current academic year and two from the previous year. Recordings must be from live, concert performances.
- Include a resume for each person involved in the lecture.
Be sure to include the following contact information:
- Your name and complete mailing address
