Dr. Mark D. Porcaro teaches courses in music history, theory and technology at the University of Dayton. He completed a M.A. and Ph.D. in Musicology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Music in Composition at Brigham Young University. His research interests include: music in the United States, music in mass-media (recording, radio broadcasting and music in film), 20th- and 21st-century music, especially Luciano Berio and Elliott Carter, and lute and guitar music and history. He is an active performer on lute and guitar and in the past has sung in choirs under the direction of Mack Wilberg, Ronald Staheli, and Rodney Wynkoop.
