Call for Literature Sessions

The National Collegiate Choral Organization (NCCO) invites applications for choral literature sessions that explore specific topics of interest (e.g. historical periods, languages, topics, countries of origin, composers, poets, etc.). Sessions will be 30–45 minutes in length and feature approximately five to seven choral works. The session should be more than a cursory reading, and can include personal commentary, historical perspective, analysis, and rehearsal where deemed desirable or necessary.

The conference will feature literature sessions that strive to include choral works appropriate for college (two– and four-year) and university choirs of varying sizes, voicing, and levels of ability. NCCO will be responsible for providing the literature packets and an accompanist. Cost of music will be taken into consideration and applicants may be encouraged to find alternate ways of presenting cost prohibitive works.

To Apply

Each applicant should submit:

  1. A literature topic and description
  2. 5–7 choral works (including title, composer, edition/publisher, price)
  3. A brief note linking the selected works to the chosen topic

Deadline: All materials must be submitted by April 15, 2017, 11:59p CST.

Notification: Results will be announced by June 1, 2017.
